EARLY INSPIRATIONS
Growing up in the UK during the 1970s and 1980s, the radio was always playing and the music never stopped. Sharan's musical interests were wide-ranging from Funk, Reggae, R&B, and Punk to world music. It was not just the music that inspired her, but the many creative aspects of the industry - the artists, the album art, the photography, graphics, lyrics, visuals, videos to the live stage productions.
Other inspirations came from classic Hollywood glamour, in particular the musical films of the 1940s and 1950s. Seeing Gene Kelly create epically choreographed dance pieces against the backdrop of Hollywood productions and elaborate set designs directed Sharan to pursue a career in the visual arts.
During her studies at art school, she became enamoured by 1960s Vogue fashion and lifestyle photographer, Horst P. Horst who was renowned for photographing some of Hollywood's greatest actors such as Marlene Detrich and Bette Davis. His photograph of the ''The Mainbocher Corset" was to be later replicated and resurrected by Madonna in her music video ''Vogue'' - another significantly influential artist.
From her early inspirations until the present day, Sharan continues to seek out creative talent in all artistic genres to join forces, collaborate, and create.
